How do I add a fishing line to a fishing reel? I recommend everyone to wind the full amount of fishing line on the spool at once – it is one or two millimeters from the edge of the outer diameter of the spool. In the process the fishing line often gets tangled and there comes a time when you have to remove some of it. To make up for what is lost, it is necessary to add what is missing. To do this, you need to know the “fishing knots” that connect the two lines.

The first thing to do. Rewind the rest of the line to a spare spool reel. Check this residue for knots, abrasions, and loops. The second is to put the line back on the spool. Third, tie the two ends of the old line and the new line together. Cut off the excess ends and reel in the desired amount. In my opinion, rewinding from reel to reel prevents future tangles. Also, you can’t skimp on the length of a line. This rule should be observed by every fisherman.

It is necessary to increase the length of the thread on the spinning reel. A fishing line with a braided line. Connecting two identical strands – is a simple task, even a novice fisherman will cope with it without problems. But to connect the fishing line with a braided line is much more difficult because of the differences in the structural structure of the materials.
Nylon monofilament is an elastic homogeneous thread, that greatly stretches in the water. Braided is a rigid cord consisting of thin flagella, intertwined with each other. It is very strong and has a low tensile strength. The knotted knot should provide the greatest tensile strength. It is also important that it does not overtighten the tackle. Blood knots, Water knots, and Albright knots are great for tying line and cord.

Two braided cords between each other
The knots used when joining monofilament cords are not suitable for mounting two braided cords. The wrong method of knotting leads to quick wear of the knot and damage to the thread. It is also necessary to consider the shape of the cross-section of the cord: it can be square, triangular, rounded, or multifaceted. The knots “Grinner”, “Bloody”, “Eight”, and “Carrot” are well suited for this situation.

When fishing with different line diameters
When fishing with an ordinary float rod, hooks often occur, leading to breaks. To avoid this, many fishermen buy a fishing line. To mount it, it is necessary to connect yarns of unequal diameter. For this purpose, the knitting techniques “Blood knot”, “Grinner”, “Carrot”, and “Academic” are suitable.

Tying lines together using the loop-in-loop method is a very convenient method, but not always the best one. The need for tying may arise in various cases:

A temporary knot may be needed to connect the ends of a broken line;
It is necessary to connect the mainline to the shock leader (a thicker line, which carries the peak loads during casting);
It is necessary to connect the montage to the main line;
Other atypical cases.

The knots that are knotted on the main line have special requirements: the knot must be compact and “streamlined” – easy to pass through the rings when throwing, pulling out the fish and the usual reeling.

Leader knot. A very simple knot that is often used to tie a mainline to a thick monofilament shock leader. It reliably connects monofilament of different diameters, forms a neat bundle, and is very easy to knit.

Mahin knot
The tapered shape of this knot, for which it was named the “carrot knot,” makes it one of the best knots for securing the shock leader to the main line. If you need a knot that won’t get in the way when casting, this is the Carrot knot. It is suitable for tying any combination of lines: with different diameters, yarn structures, and different materials (nylon, fluorocarbon, microfiber).
