I’m always looking for new ways to improve my technique and increase my chances of catching fish. That’s why I’m excited to share with you my experience using sinker sliders.
Sinker slides are a type of rig used for bottom fishing. They consist of a mainline with a sinker on the bottom and a slider attached to the line above the sinker. The slider allows the bait to move freely along the line, while the sinker keeps the bait near the bottom where the fish are usually located.
Using sinker sliders is easy. Start by tying your mainline to the sinker. Then, attach the slider to the mainline by threading the line through the slider and tying a swivel at the end of the slider. The swivel will prevent the slider from sliding down to the sinker.
Next, tie a leader line to the other end of the swivel and attach your bait. The slider will allow your bait to move freely along the line, giving it a more natural presentation and increasing your chances of catching fish.
Sinker sliders are particularly useful when fishing for bottom-dwelling fish, such as catfish or carp, that are often found in murky waters. By using a sinker slider, you can present your bait more effectively and increase your chances of catching these elusive fish.
When I fish, I like to use a sliding sinker. It allows my line to move through it when it sits on the bottom, making it easier for a fish to pick up the bait without feeling the weight of the sinker.
To avoid tangling my line, I use a swivel barrel to tie my main line to my leader. The swivel barrel can spin, preventing my line from becoming tangled.
When I rig my line, I place the slip sinker on first, followed by the swivel. Next, I tie my leader line to the other side of the swivel, and finally, I tie my hook onto the end of the leader.
This rig works well for bottom-feeding fish like catfish, and I have also used it to catch panfish. I have found that it is effective when fishing from shore.
When I go river fishing, I like to use a pencil lead setup hanging off a snap swivel. This setup is great for adjusting the amount of lead according to conditions and getting a great feel for the bounce on the bottom. It also deals easily with snaps.
If I am in a lake or ocean, I usually use the fish finder rig as mentioned above. It is super simple and a great technique for catching fish.
